I love Marysville. It is my home and I want to continue to have an active part in making it better. That is why I am asking for your vote. I have no other motivation in serving you on the city council than to continue the work of making our community a better place for each one of us.
I would like to take this opportunity to share a few things that I’ve done as I’ve served you on the Marysville City Council. First of all, I have pursued public safety funding and policies that ensure safer communities. Second, I have worked to ensure that we move forward and complete road projects that alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety. Third, I have supported policies that increase economic development as opposed to raising property tax rates on our citizens.
For 16 years my wife and I operated a small family business that employed dozens of employees and serviced many thousands of customers each year. This experience has taught me how important small business is to our local economy. Because of this business experience, I have been able to better understand and work toward putting policies in place that make the City of Marysville a better place to do business.
Over the years I have been actively working with young people in our community as a soccer coach, a Boy Scout leader and as a leader in the youth ministry program through our church. The young people in our community have much to contribute and are often overlooked in community problem-solving efforts. In my work with them, I have encouraged young people to volunteer their time and talents to the community wherever they have a particular interest. I have also taken the time to teach them the principles of our representative republic and the importance of constitutional principles, even on a local level.
I am blessed to be the father of three boys who have grown up here in Marysville. All three of them have lived in other countries and other states, and each has expressed a desire to raise their future families in Marysville someday. This is a testimony to me that we have done a good job in recent years to make Marysville the kind of place where people want to live.
The last thing I’d like to say is that I value your perspective and your opinion. I encourage you to let me know if you have any questions or concerns about our community. I thank you for taking a few minutes to learn more about me and the work I will continue to do as your city councilmember.
